Chicago Babbitt Tapes
Dragging through water, sand, or gravel, or exposure to salt water and chemicals will not remove the coating or markings as with an etched or printed tape.

The "Chicago" Babbitt tape is the most durable chain tape you can obtain for field use. The basic line is .016" thick by 5/16" wide, high carbon spring steel brightly tin coated to resist rust. The raised babbitts are fused permanently to the surface of the spring steel line. Foot marks and numbers are then deeply embossed into each babbitt. You can be sure when you use a Chicago steel tape, you are using a tape that has stood the test of time and is still the best tape of its type on the market today.

Style "C": End graduation, zero begins at end of loop, first and last unit divided to tenths.
Style "S": End graduation, zero begins 6" from end, first and last unit divided to tenths.
Style "T": End graduation, zero begins 18" or more from end. Extra unit before zero divided into tenths, last unit also divided to tenths.

CST reels feature a heavy duty die cast winding drum core and crank. Unique hook attachment feature prevents wear and tear on tape end.

Foot Tapes: Foot tapes are marked every foot with the first and last foot marked in tenths. Available marked in 12ths on special order.
Link Tapes: Link tapes are marked every link with the first and last links marked in tenths.
Metric Tapes: Metric tapes are marked every meter with the first and last meter marked in decimeters. First and last decimeter graduated in centimeters.
1/2 Railroad Gauge Tapes are available with 1/2 Railroad Gauge markings.
Special Tapes: Our new automatic method of manufacturing tapes enables us to furnish tapes with the highest degree of accuracy in lengths to 3,000 feet. We can manufacture tapes to your specifications.

Babbitt Tape Reels
Strong, high-quality black anodized reels feature an open design that exposes the entire tape for easy drying and quick cleaning. The long one-piece crank handle makes winding easy. Tape can lock at any desired point. Handles are of iridescent red hardwood. All reels feature the large drum which provides faster, easier rewinding. All crossbar reels are provided with a point. Tapes easily attach to reels.

04-501 Marking Pins & Quivers
"Chicago" marking pins are made of 3/16" spring steel, hard enough for scribing into concrete and metal. 14" pins, powder painted red and white alternating each inch; in sets of 11 pins per box. Meets military specifications.
04-506 Genuine leather "Chicago" quivers are shaped for convenient carrying when strapped around the waist.
04-511 Carrying Ring
Spring steel 3/16" carrying rings are brightly chrome plated to insure the longest possible use.

04-710 Tape Clamp Handle
Used for quick and positive gripping of a steel tape at any point, and applying light or heavy tension. It is applied and removed by simply operating the handle. When used properly, it will not damage a tape in any way. Made of chrome plated zinc alloy in U.S.A.

Eureka Tape Repair Kits
A quick and convenient method of splicing broken tapes in field or office. A thin 7/8" long metal sleeve coated with solder and flux. (1) Clean tape ends; hammer them if there is any burr, (2) Butt broken tape together inside sleeve, (3) Hammer sleeve down tightly, (4) Then burn an ordinary match underneath sleeve, and the weld is securely made. Do not move tape when weld is cooling.

04-866 Leather Thongs
Same as furnished with all Chicago chain tapes. 24" long and 1/4" wide. Practically unbreakable tanned leather. Sold in pairs.

Pro-Series, Yellow Fiberglass Tapes (1/2" wide)

Made with nonwoven PVC-coated fiberglass of superior durability. Markings are not affected by casual contact with alcohol, brine, paint thinner, gasoline or similar fluid. PVC face will not collect dust or mildew and stains wash off with soap and water.

Closed Cases
Closed cases are coated with protective, rust-inhibiting PVC. Case has double throat rollers and flush-folding handle secured by a push-pin knob. In 50 ft., 100 ft., 165 ft., 20m, 30m and 50m lengths.

Open Reel
Open-type reels are strong, shatterproof plastic, featuring a flush folding handle. In 50 ft., 100 ft., 165 ft., 200 ft., 300 ft., 20m, 30m, 50m, and 100m lengths.

Nylon-Clad Steel Tape
This fine tape is made of special flexible high-tempered steel with layers of protective nylon coatings. Markings are baked onto the steel before the ny-clad layers are applied. The heavy nylon coating makes this steel tape easy on the hands, waterproof, and resistant to chemicals, oils and temperature extremes. The open reel is lightweight, high impact Hi-Vis Orange ABS plastic. Heavy-duty metal flush-folding crank assures smooth and constant return of tape.
